Here in Nashville, we pride ourselves on good food, great drinks and a plethora of musical stylings. What some people might not know about our sweet little town is that we are more than just cowboy boots and Broadway (we love these things, too, though). The culture that this place offers is pretty surprising if you’ve never made a trip here, but our locals love to have variety in their Friday & Saturday nights out. While some hit the downtown neon lit streets for a few too many shots and a mechanical bull ride, others like something a little quieter and off the beaten path.
So you’ve found yourself in Nashville in March, a pretty busy tourist season approaching and we want you to have the time of your life. You know, the kind that stays with you and entices you to visit us again. March 1st there are a few different ways to go, A very fun 80’s Dance Party will be happening at The 5 Spot in East Nashville; across town, in Hillsboro Village, The Belcourt Theatre is premiering a few different indie films that are likely to be some sort of Sundance Film Festival winner (Everybody Knows & Never Look Away both premiere on the 1st).
Mid-March has some really unique events that will surely fit your fancy. March 15th, Cole Williams (a past NOLA Jazz Festival Performer) hits the stage at Two Old Hippies. If you have never checked out TOH, you will definitely want to find a time to drop in the adorable boho chic storefront that doubles as a music venue and also happens to be home for some of the most beautiful guitars this town has to offer. If you’re looking for more of a sit down, sip on something strong and laugh til it hurts kind of a night, you’ll want to head over to Third Coast Comedy Club on March 16th. LOL Nashville is a local, unscripted improv group that is known for the fact that no two shows are the same. Audience participation is helps bring the performers to life and make you feel like you’re on the set of “Whose Line is it Anyway?”
Finish off March with a musical bang! If you’re in Nashville during the dates March 26-30, you have hit the song-lovers jackpot. “Tin Pan South” is an annual music festival of sorts, where songwriters from all over the world fly to Nashville and play their hits for you. Venues across the city host writers rounds and showcases for songwriters who have written some of the most well known and loved hits… Every – Single – Night. These tickets DO sell out quick, so we encourage you to find the shows you want to see and get your tickets as far in advance as you possibly can. We also recommend hitting up Station Inn at least once while you’re in town, they usually have the cream of the crop gracing their historical stage!
